Sketch - Yellow-Crowned Night Heron

I finally sketched this night heron that I photographed in the Galapagos last year. I loved the light in this photo and the energy of him. I remember watching him come flying in and landing in front of me. I was like “holy shit, he’s gorgeous!” I just watched him for a while in awe as he groomed himself and then went about with his day. I love to observe birds and think about what they are doing and thinking and what their life is like. Learning about them, their behaviors and habits often gives me a lot of insight on my own life.
